The friendship of two men in Thailand came to a tragic end when one of them murdered the other out of fear that he was a ghost. The strange case reportedly occurred last Wednesday morning when buddies Banjong and Wichan started their morning by drinking "white liquor" together at the latter's home. As the hours passed and the booze flowed, the duo wound up in an undoubtedly alcohol-fueled disagreement later that afternoon. While the precise nature of the dispute is uncertain, at some point Wichan grew suspicious that Banjong was a sinister spirit in disguise.
Believing that his friend was a folkloric Thai ghost, known as a Phi Pop, and fearing the infamous entity's penchant for cannibalism, Wichan grabbed a hammer and began bludgeoning Banjong. During the attack, the misguided ghost buster hit his friend around 20 times with the tool-turned-weapon. Cops alerted to the violence unfolding at the home arrived on the scene to find a badly beaten Banjong, who later succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital. As for Wichan, Phi Pop fears are now the least of his concerns, as he was promptly arrested for the gruesome attack that took his friend's life.
