Thousands of Messages Beaming to Mars

This Friday, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first exploration of Mars, nearly 90,000 messages will be beamed to the Red Planet. Uwingu, a space-funding company, in tandem with the Universal Space Network, is transmitting the data at the super-speedy rate of one million bits per second, as part of their "Beam Me to Mars" project. It's estimated that it will take 15 minutes for the messages to arrive. More at Space.com.
