A pair of women passing through an airport in Thailand were caught smuggling a staggering 109 live animals that they had hidden in their luggage. The astounding attempt at sneaking the creatures out of the country was reportedly uncovered on Monday at the Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok. As the two women were preparing to depart for India, an x-ray of their bags detected what authorities described as "suspicious objects" which led to a search of their suitcases whereupon a veritable menagerie was revealed.

According to the country's Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation, security officers seized a stunning 109 live animals from the luggage of the two travelers. Among the various creatures with a proverbial ticket on the ill-advised 'vacation' were two armadillos, two white hedgehogs, 20 snakes, and a whopping 35 turtles. As one might imagine, the women were subsequently arrested and have been charged with violating various wildlife-related laws.
