Two New Nessie Sightings Added to Official 2026 Tally

Suggesting that Nessie may be stirring this spring, two new reports have been added to the official tally of possible 'monster' sightings for 2026. Detailed in a recent update at the Official Loch Ness Monster Sightings Register website, the first incident occurred shortly before noon on April 23rd as Margaret Sunstrum and Joan Sweeney were visiting the popular Scottish destination from their home in Ontario, Canada. As the duo was driving along the shore of the site, the pair gazed out at the water and had a Loch Ness tourist experience that would be the envy of most travelers.

Specifically, Sunstrum "spotted a large shape crest in the water that she thought looked like a whale." Meanwhile, Sweeney also noticed the unusual anomaly that caught her friend's attention, wondering aloud, "what is that?" The witnesses noted that "the water was calm and still and behind the shape was a large S-shaped wake" that stretched "for quite a distance." Remarkably, just two days later, on the afternoon of April 25th, witness Holly Palmer of Worcestershire, England snapped a photo (seen here) of a peculiar anomaly she observed while on a Loch Ness cruise boat.

With the two cases receiving recognition from the Official Loch Ness Monster Sightings Register, the tally of on-site reports for 2026 is now at three after American tourist Tony Inhorn was credited with the year's first possible observation of the creature last month. That number is half the total for 2026, with nearly eight months remaining in the year and the massive annual Quest search still a few weeks away, meaning that we could be on the cusp of a banner year for Nessie sightings.
