A compelling pair of potential Loch Ness Monster sightings featuring intriguing visual evidence captured on consecutive days has been added to the official 2026 tally. The more recent case reportedly occurred on August 6th as Jocelyn Boyce was visiting the popular Scottish tourist destination from her home in Barcelona. "I was at a viewpoint at Urquhart Castle overlooking Loch Ness with my family," she recalled, "when we noticed a dark, almost black, mound-like shape protruding above the surface of the water." Estimating that the anomalous object was about half a mile from where they stood, she managed to capture a brief video of the oddity (seen in this screenshot) before it vanished beneath the surface of Loch Ness seconds later.
Remarkably, Boyce's sighting was preceded by another potential glimpse of Nessie on August 5th. In this instance, tourist Norbert Kawka from Malta spotted "a creature move against the current, in and out of the water like a very large eel." The witness estimated that the unknown animal measured a whopping 23 feet long. He also noted that there was no boat activity nor weather conditions that could account for the astonishing sight. Fortunately, like Bryce the following day, Kawka was able to document his sighting with a few photos of the mystery creature, one of which can be seen here.
Considering the strong visual evidence from both accounts, the tourists' reports have deservedly been recognized by the Official Loch Ness Monster Sightings Register and added to the 2026 tally. The total number of possible on-site 'monster' encounters for the year now stands at 13, the highest number of sightings since 2020, which also boasted 13 recognized reports. With four months left before 2026 draws to a close, it is not hard to imagine a few more cases being added before the annual tally is final. What do you make of Boyce and Kawka's respective photos?
