Underhanded 'Clairvoyant' Busted in Ukraine

Ukrainian authorities are cautioning residents about phony online psychics after a self-proclaimed clairvoyant used social media to swindle a heartbroken woman. According to a local media report, the all-too-familiar case of a misbehaving 'mystic' came to light earlier this week when the Regional Prosecutor's Office for the city of Chernivtsi detailed the matter on social media. The suspect, they explained, "created an Instagram page to position herself as a 'clairvoyant' and offer fortune-telling services, tarot readings, and 'relationship restoration.'"Specifically, prosecutors said, the phony mystic "convinced clients that she was able to return a loved one through rituals and cards."

Alas, that particular service caught the attention of a heartbroken woman desperate to reunite with her former partner. Sadly, the victim fell under the spell of the 'psychic,' who promised guaranteed results, but continuously asked for more and more money for additional supernatural services. After paying approximately $7,000 to the 'clairvoyant' over the course of several months, the woman realized that she was no closer to reuniting with her partner than when she first enlisted the 'mystic,' prompting her to report the 'psychic' to police. Authorities subsequently launched an investigation into the suspected case of fraud with the 'clairvoyant' almost certainly facing charges for the scheme.
