Video: Bear & Tigers from Russian Zoo Make US Election Prediction

By Tim Binnall

In what may be the weirdest survey this election season, a trio of animals residing at a Russian zoo each independently picked former Vice President Joe Biden to win the 2020 Presidential Election. The animal-based bit of possible prognostication reportedly took place last week at the Royev Ruchey Zoo in Krasnoyarsk, Siberia where a pair of tigers and a bear were presented with two watermelons which had been carved with the likenesses of President Trump and his Democratic challenger.

After first sizing up both contenders, a white Bengal tiger dubbed Khan ultimately indicated his choice by rolling the Biden watermelon around in his habitat and ignoring the Trump fruit. The creature's attempt at clairvoyance was echoed by an Amur tiger named Bartek, who followed a similar pattern of deliberation followed by a resounding smash of the Democratic snack. By far the most bullish of the bunch a brown bear billed as Buyan that devoured the Biden watermelon with gusto.

As if the stakes surrounding this year's election were not high enough, the Buyan's 'prediction' could prove to be something of a redemption story for the creature as it has previously been wrong when called upon to forecast both the 2018 World Cup and the 2019 Ukrainian presidential election. And, in what is undoubtedly a sign of the times, the Russian zoo was actually forced to take to social media to assure its followers that there were no shenanigans at work with the watermelons after people accused them of rigging the 'election.'
