Video: Bizarre 'Mystery Sound' Confounds Georgia Community

By Tim Binnall

Multiple people in a Georgia community were left scratching their heads by a bizarre mystery sound that no one can identify. According to a local media report, the puzzling incident occurred early Friday morning in the city of Savannah and surrounding suburbs when residents were suddenly roused from their sleep by a very unusual noise. Unlike the mysterious booms and blasts that have confounded other communities around the country over the years, this particular sound (featured in the video above) was rather unique in nature and hard to describe.

"I’ve never heard anything like it before," witness Sarah Cuda mused, "it sounded really piercing, like a leaf blower times 100. It made me uncomfortable because I didn’t know what it was." That unease was echoed by Sara Herold, who also heard the strange sound, which she described as "very loud to the point where it was concerning." As one might imagine, shortly after the approximately 20-minute-long incident, local social media was flooded with videos of the mystery noise and, of course, theories for what could have been behind it.

One particular prevalent possibility put forward by people online was some kind of exercise at the nearby Hunter Army Airfield. However, when asked about the strange incident, base officials indicated that "there were no reported training activities" at the time the sound was heard and, oddly, no one from the base contacted them about hearing the noise. With that in mind, what do you think was behind the baffling sound that disturbed so many people around Savannah early Friday morning? Weigh in with your best guess at the C2C Facebook page.
