The fate of the infamous 'Conjuring House' is seemingly more uncertain than ever following the mysterious cancellation of the notoriously haunted residence's scheduled Halloween auction. The much-anticipated sale of the purportedly haunted Rhode Island home was expected to be the conclusion of a rather strange year-long saga surrounding the spooky site, which has spawned a paranormal film franchise. However, similar to a Hollywood movie itself, the story of the actual Conjuring House reportedly took yet another unexpected turn right before what was thought to be the end, when it was announced on Wednesday afternoon that the forthcoming auction had been cancelled.
The surprising turn of events, JJ Manning Auctions wrote, occurred because the bank holding the mortgage on the property had sold that loan to an unidentified third party. As such, it was no longer in a position to sell the site itself. The somewhat convoluted development understandably cast confusion over the paranormal community, with many initially believing that the Conjuring House had been outright sold. To that end, Jason Hawes, of Ghost Hunters fame, paused his GoFundMe campaign to raise money to buy the home until clarity could be brought to the situation. A few hours later, the paranormal television pioneer reactivated the crowdfunding effort with an indication that the site may still be up for grabs.
"Needham Bank sold off the mortgage. They didn’t sell off the house; they sold the mortgage," he explained on Facebook, "whoever bought the mortgage is going to have to go through the whole foreclosure process again." Without getting into the specifics of what that might mean, Hawes expressed optimism that the latest proverbial plot twist in the Conjuring House saga could be beneficial in the paranormal community's effort to somehow save the site. "There are a lot of different avenues we have now," he said, "this makes it a higher probability than we had last week when he had to go up against everybody." With that in mind, not unlike the film franchise it inspired, there appear to be a few more chapters of curious Conjuring House story left to unfold.
