Love was in the air at a West Virginia Bigfoot event this past weekend as a couple who say Sasquatch brought them together tied the knot with the legendary creature presiding over the ceremony. According to a local media report, Christy Chaffin and Ron Howes wed on Friday night at the West Virginia Bigfoot Festival in the community of Sutton. The unorthodox setting for the ceremony made perfect sense to the couple as Sasquatch has been an enduring part of their relationship from the very beginning.
Recounting their cryptozoological 'meet cute,' Bigfoot researcher Howes explained, "I was promoting a show and she was set up next to me—her as a vendor and me as a speaker." The pair quickly connected and formed a bond that culminated at the big event his past weekend. "We met at a Bigfoot show, we became friends at a Bigfoot show, we got engaged at a Bigfoot show, and now we're getting married at a Bigfoot show," the bride mused, "that's our love story."
With Chaffin being an artist who creates cryptid-themed pieces and Howes a Sasquatch researcher, the pair saw getting married at the festival as also a celebration of the fellowship that has grown around the legendary creature. "Bigfoot has done this," Howes marveled, "it’s brought this whole community together." To that end, the ceremony was fittingly officiated by an individual wearing a Sasquatch costume, alongside similarly dressed groomsmen. Since it was West Virginia, 'Mothman' also made an appearance to celebrate the happy couple whom we also wish all the best.
