Reminiscent of the mystery monolith craze from late 2020, the seemingly sudden appearance of a sizeable piece of artwork in a Turkish community prompted all manner of speculation among residents and a police investigation that ultimately determined its origin. According to a local media report, the nearly 23-foot-tall open-ended box with a giant ball suspended at its center was recently found in an olive grove in the city of Seydikemer. The uneasy resident who initially stumbled upon the strange structure was understandably struck by its weirdness and promptly reported its presence to the police.
Word of the wondrous find soon spread throughout the community, with some residents theorizing that the peculiar 'monument' had been placed there by extraterrestrials, and others reportedly claiming that it had been created years earlier by a visiting Swiss professor. Fortunately, police were able to quickly solve the mystery as a conversation with the landowner revealed that his friend, artist Engo Fikret Engin Kazancı, was responsible for the 12-ton piece, titled 'Tensio.' Said to have been installed in 2025 but only discovered this month, the artwork was to be unveiled at an event in August before it inadvertently became the talk of the town two months earlier than planned.
