A family in North Carolina could not believe their eyes when their white German Shepherd gave birth to a lime green puppy. The colorful canine reportedly arrived into this world as part of a litter of eight pups delivered by Shana Stamey's dog Gypsy last Friday morning. As the otherwise routine delivery unfolded, things took a weird turn when the fourth puppy was born and sported a shocking appearance.
"I started freaking out because it was green," Stamey recalled to a local TV station. Since the dog appeared to be perfectly fine aside from its oddly colored fur, she said, "I knew it wasn't harmful. But I still had to look it up again to make sure." Fortunately, her instincts were correct as a veterinarian explained that the pup's fur was likely stained in the womb after coming into contact with some stool produced by the litter.
While the inadvertent dye job will eventually fade away, the dog's curious color at birth will follow it through life by way of its name: Hulk. Explaining the inspiration for the moniker, Stamey noted that not only was the puppy lime green, of course, but he was also "super mad." The family hopes to find a forever home for Hulk and his canine kin sometime later this year.
