Video: Eerie Paranormal Activity Prompts British Pet Store to Hold Seance

By Tim Binnall

The owner of a pet store in England enlisted some local ghost hunters to perform a seance at her shop following recurring reports of eerie activity that the paranormal investigators suspect could be caused by an ornery spirit. The weird predicament reportedly began unfolding at Purdy's Pet Shop in the city of Coventry shortly after Rebecca Harrington first opened the establishment two years ago. According to the store owner, customers have repeatedly noticed their clothes being inexplicably tugged by an unseen force and their pets are frequently distressed by some kind of mysterious presence in their midst.

Having heard the stories for quite some time, Harrington eventually decided to check the security cameras at the shop to see if she could spot any of this unusual activity. The store owner was stunned to observe, on multiple occasions, items falling from their shelves for no apparent reason (as seen in the video above). In another instance, a vacuum that "has been broken for God knows how long" suddenly came to life and started working again out of the blue. Harrington eventually grew so curious about the strangeness that she turned to some local ghost hunters to investigate the situation and they subsequently performed a seance at the shop.

"It was weird," the store owner recalled, noting that as one of the paranormal investigators left the room "there were a load of orbs that followed her back in and she was in distress." Although she does not explain how they came to this conclusion, Harrington said that the ghost hunters ultimately surmised that the spirit was that of a man who once lived in the store back when it was a residence decades ago and that he may have died when Coventry was bombarded during World War II. "They don't think he's angry," she said, "just a bit annoyed that we're here."

That feeling is apparently mutual, Harrington amusingly mused, as "most of the time we get annoyed because we have to clean up" after the spirit when it has thrown merchandise to the floor. Fortunately it would seem that the potential presence has not put a damper on business as the owner revealed that "the ghost doesn't really scare customers. A lot of people come in and ask about it and want to know if we're going to do another seance." Should they decide to do so, however, Harrington says that her days of ghost hunting are behind her, joking that "I'll be out the back having a glass of wine."
