A grocery store in Thailand had an unexpected visitor earlier this week when a hungry wild elephant wandered into the shop and began scarfing down some snacks. The odd incident reportedly occurred on Monday afternoon at an establishment on the edge of the country's Khao Yai National Park. As a clerk was helping a customer, the two were surprised to see the sizeable creature had strolled into the store. The elephant, named Plai Biang Lek, resides at the nearby national park and has developed something of a reputation for mischievously leaving the location in search of food.
In this instance, snacks were on Plai Biang Lek's mind as the pachyderm roamed the store's aisles, feasting on various treats while making a mess of the place as it knocked over products and shelves. Both the customer and the clerk understandably fled the store and alerted authorities to the elephant's antics, which lasted around ten minutes before the satiated creature also departed the shop. Footage of the unusual visit has since gone viral online with many expressing amusement at Plai Biang Lek's latest misadventure.
