Video: Iowa Motorist Forced to Evade Giant Inflatable Pumpkin Bounding Down Road

By Tim Binnall

An Iowa motorist was forced to think fast when she suddenly encountered a giant inflatable pumpkin that had escaped from a yard and bounded down the road towards her car. According to a local media report, the weird scene unfolded last Tuesday in the city of Dubuque. As resident Pam McCarron was headed to work that morning, she likely did a double-take when the massive Halloween decoration suddenly appeared in front of her vehicle. "I was like, 'Is it going to hit me? Is it going to hit my car? Is it going to go over my car?,'" the driver recounted thinking during the weird moment when she and the massive pumpkin were on a collision course for each other.

McCarron ultimately decided to swerve around the sizeable inflatable rather than crash into it, though she later acknowledged that the evasive maneuver could have been calamitous. "It's big enough where I couldn't see around it to know if there was anything on the other side when it was on the other side of the street," she recalled. Fortunately, McCarron's car was the only one on the road at the time, so she managed to avoid a pumpkin-induced accident. The city of Dubuque subsequently shared traffic camera footage of the strange incident as a reminder that residents secure their Halloween decorations to prevent similar incidents in the future.
