Video: Man in Batman Pajamas Busts Alleged Burglar in Florida

By Tim Binnall

A Florida man clad in Batman pajamas wound up emulating the superhero by springing into action and busting an alleged burglar operating in his neighborhood. The odd incident reportedly occurred in the community of Cape Coral early Wednesday morning, when resident Kyle Myvett was roused from his sleep by an alert from his home security system. Seeing that someone was breaking into his truck, he ventured outside and observed the perpetrator in action before watching him move on to another home in the neighborhood. Perhaps inspired by his Batman pajamas, it was then that Myvett felt compelled to act and transformed into a genuine crimefighter.

"It's not in me to just stand there and be a coward when I see that something needs to be done," the proverbial Cape Coral Crusader recalled to a local TV station. Myvett quickly subdued the suspect, Justin Schimpl, who undoubtedly did a double-take at the homeowner's Batman attire. Reflecting on his rather ironic pair of pajamas that evening, Myvett later jokingly mused, "I knew for some reason I should have worn that particular outfit." When police arrived in response to a call about a burglary in the neighborhood, one imagines they were equally taken aback at the sight of 'Batman' having taken down the suspect before them. Cops commended Myvett for his actions, calling them "a prime example of what we can do if we all work together as a community."
