A pair of pranksters in India found themselves in trouble with the law after they sparked a panic by strapping colored lights to pigeons and releasing the illuminated creatures over several confused and concerned communities. According to a local media report, the odd incident occurred last week in the state of Uttar Pradesh, where residents of the area were left unnerved by the sudden presence of puzzling UFOs that appeared in the skies. Their collective unease with the eerie aerial incursion was significant enough that night vigils began being held to keep an eye on the curious lights in the sky. Word of the 'invasion' soon reached authorities, who promptly launched an investigation into the worrisome situation.
Fortunately, it was soon determined that the case had a terrestrial explanation as police arrested two men, identified as Shoeb and Sakib, who had manufactured the proverbial UFO flap by strapping blinking green and red lights to pigeons that they then released, intending to cause a commotion. Footage of the duo after their arrest (seen above) shows the illuminated birds in a cage before the animals were freed from the peculiar predicament. Interestingly, in something of a testament to what generates fear from the public these days, the men told police that they were actually trying to hoax drone sightings rather than an alien visitation, though many interpreted the illuminated birds to be from out of this world.
