Cops in Washington State made a rather unusual arrest over the weekend when they caught a man allegedly cruising around on an electric unicycle while under the influence of alcohol. According to the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office, the bizarre bust occurred early Saturday morning in the community of Port Orchard, when one of their deputies pulled up behind the man as he rolled down the street on the electric one-wheeler. What concerned the cop, the department later explained, was that "the man was moving erratically." Understandably curious about the situation, the deputy tried to stop the man, but he only pulled over for a brief moment before somehow escaping the scene on the unique vehicle.
Around half an hour later, the cops encountered the suspect again, though this time he had no one-wheeler. A subsequent search of the area determined that, at some point during his hasty getaway, the man crashed his unicycle in a ravine and ditched the vehicle while fleeing on foot. As they questioned the suspect about the weird chain of events that brought them together, cops "noticed a strong odor of alcohol indicating he was intoxicated." The Sheriff's Office explained that this was enough to arrest the man for driving under the influence, as an electric unicycle "can reach speeds of nearly 45 mph" and he was using it on the street when first spotted by police.
