A wild dashcam video from Japan shows the moment an ornery brown bear menaced a driver by clambering onto the hood of her car and attacking the vehicle. According to a local media report, the jaw-dropping incident occurred last Tuesday evening as a woman was cruising through the community of Bifuka in Hokkaido. When she spotted a brown bear and its cub cross the road in front of her car, she slowed down to pass the animals, which seemed to be headed into the wilderness. However, the adult bear suddenly stood on its hind legs and charged at the vehicle, which had stopped as the astonished driver absorbed what was unfolding before her.
The monstrous creature, believed to be approximately five feet tall, jumped onto the hood of the car and aggressively lunged at the windshield on two separate occasions before ultimately giving up its terrifying pursuit. The dashcam footage was released by the Hokkaido Police as a warning to residents about the animals, which have been responsible for a worrisome number of attacks in Japan this year. Fortunately, the driver managed to escape the frightening episode unscathed, but the same could not be said about her car, which was scratched, dented, and left with a hole in the hood from the unsettling encounter.
