A motorist in Missouri says he was left haunted by an odd UFO sighting wherein he spotted a peculiar cube-shaped object hovering in the sky. The weird sighting reportedly occurred last month as Justin Johnson was driving home from work in the city of Springfield and noticed a "very shiny object" overhead seemingly headed towards him. Bewildered by the odd sight, the witness first thought it was simply a helicopter from a local hospital and then suspected that perhaps it was a piece of trash that had somehow been blown high up into the air. These theories fell by the wayside when Johnson got a closer look at the anomaly and determined that it was "a solid metal cube that was rotating in multiple directions."
The incident appears to have had a profound effect on Johnson as he mused that "this thing has haunted me after witnessing it." To his credit, the man subsequently began his own investigation into the sighting and found that "the object was flying against the wind that day," which has led him to discount the possibility that it was a balloon of some kind. Additionally, Johnson went so far as to contact the FAA about the matter and was told that they could not account for the puzzling object. Ultimately, the witness concluded that "if I had to put money on a guess, it would be otherworldly origins or secret government tech."
However, there may be a more prosaic explanation for the object beyond those two options as the case is remarkably similar to another sighting in October wherein a witness in Ohio also filmed a rotating cube. In that instance, the director of a local flight school told an area TV station reporting on the incident that the 'UFO' was most likely a drone and that some such UAVs are equipped with covers that make the device appear cube-shaped. With that in mind, the explanation would also seem to apply to the case in Missouri, though we may never know what exactly the witness saw.
