Watch: Doorbell Camera Films Angel?

By Tim Binnall

A strange piece of footage from a doorbell camera in England shows an odd anomaly fluttering over the doorstep of a home and the couple who live there believe that the curious flying object is a departed relative returning as an angel. The peculiar video was reportedly captured early last month in the community of Beaumont Leys at the residence of Robert Mansfield as his partner, Stephanie Scott, and their son, Oskar, were returning from walking their dogs. When they reached the front door, a wispy white form appears over their heads and goes unseen by the pair as it floats up into the night sky.

The puzzling scene was only noticed later when Scott was checking videos captured by the home security system and spotted the unusual interloper. "She asked if it's an angel because you can see the wings flapping," Mansfield recalled, "I told her it can't be, because I'm not a huge believer in stuff like that, but when I looked into it I was really surprised and realized it could actually be something." He went on to theorize that the curious anomaly may have been the spirit of his late father looking over the family. "We always say my dad is my kids' guardian angel so seeing something like that is heart-warming," Mansfield mused, "it might be him."

As for what might have inspired the unexpected visit, he noted that the family has recently been having some difficulties, including a significant eye injury to one of their dogs. With that in mind, Mansfield posited that perhaps his dad appeared before the doorbell camera to provide them with some sense of comfort. While skeptical observers have argued that the 'angel' is merely a reflection, the homeowner indicated that the video is the only time such an anomaly has appeared, which left him doubtful of that explanation. Of course, the 'heavenly being' could also be an insect made to look miraculous by being close to the camera. What do you think of the couple's footage?
