Watch: Elephants at Zoo Chase Man Who Broke Into Their Enclosure

By Tim Binnall

A jaw-dropping video out of Denmark shows what happened when a foolhardy visitor to the Copenhagen Zoo decided to break into the site's elephant habitat. The bizarre incident was filmed by some astounded patrons who, presumably, could not believe what they were seeing when they spotted the unidentified man lingering inside the enclosure.

The incredible footage begins with the man perched atop a rock in what looks like some kind of manmade gulch that is part of the elephants' habitat. Things soon take a troubling turn as the massive creatures quickly head towards him in, ostensibly, an attempt to investigate the interloper. As the elephants get perilously close to the man, he throws up his hands and actually approaches the enormous beasts. Coming within mere feet of the elephants, who appear perturbed and protective of their calf, the man somehow miraculously escapes the situation unscathed by walking up a rocky slope.

And, in what may be the wildest part of the video, he then nonchalantly strolls away with the animals in relatively hot pursuit. He eventually makes his way to a fence, which he scrambles over as the elephants unleash a few annoyed trumpets towards the trespasser. Probably realizing that he pulled off something truly extraordinary and highly illegal, the daring man made a hasty exit from the zoo and avoided capture by the security, making him doubly lucky on this particular day.
