An Indian city is on edge due to a mysterious woman roaming the streets ringing doorbells before vanishing into the night. According to a local media report, the eerie case is currently unfolding in the community of Gwalior, where security cameras captured the curious stranger in action. Footage of the mysterious woman, who makes her unsettling visits in the early morning hours, has gone viral in India with many speculating as to the nature of the peculiar person who wears traditional garb that shrouds her identity.
Many online observers have noted that livestock and other animals in the street appear to steer clear of the woman as she makes her riddlesome rounds. Their chilling response to the stranger has spawned theories that she could be a spirit or a witch. That said, not everyone agrees with that assessment as one community member theorized to a TV station that the phantom doorbell ringer is actually a disguised man with bad intentions. "We think he must be a thief," the resident mused, positing that "ghosts are never caught on camera."
Setting aside that somewhat dubious argument about the paranormal and the debate over her true nature, her mere presence has sparked a panic in Gwalior with many residents understandably afraid to leave their homes at night, lest they encounter the stranger. In response, police have stepped up patrols of the areas where she has been seen, yet the phantom has proven to be particularly elusive. What do you make of the weird case that has gripped the Indian city? Is the woman merely a prankster or is something sinister afoot? Weigh in with your thoughts at the C2C Facebook page.
