Residents throughout Western Canada were left scratching their heads after spotting a weird, glowing blob floating across the night sky. According to a local media report, the wondrous event occurred shortly after 10 PM on Tuesday. Shortly thereafter, local social media groups for communities across British Columbia and neighboring Alberta were flooded with videos (like the one seen below) of the baffling blob and speculation about what it could have been.
Of course, one theory offered by awestruck observers was that the UFO was alien in nature. That said, beyond the extraterrestrial hypothesis, more prosaic possibilities put forward by people online were a drone, a balloon, or, perhaps the most plausible of all, the visual effect produced by a rocket launch, as occurred from California around an hour before the mysterious mass sighting.
