Watch: Haunting Footage Allegedly Shows Felling of Britain's Famed Sycamore Gap Tree

British prosecutors have released haunting footage of what they say is the moment when the country's famed Sycamore Gap tree was cut down in the dead of night. The eerie video (seen above) was reportedly shown in court on Wednesday during the second day of the trial of Daniel Graham and Adam Carruthers, who authorities believe were responsible for the dastardly deed back in September of 2003. The footage originally showed nearly nothing because of the darkness of the late hour, however, an enhancement by investigators revealed a figure standing beside the tree as the sound of a chainsaw could be heard before the sizeable Sycamore Gap came tragically tumbling to the ground.

Appearing to further confirm that the footage shows the actual felling of the beloved natural landmark, a police expert testified that metadata from the video file showed that its GPS coordinates were at the location of the Sycamore Gap. Making matters worse for the accused duo, the same analyst also indicated that the material was recovered from Graham’s cell phone. The powerful presentation from the prosecution, which began the previous day with an opening statement containing several damning details seemingly incriminating the duo, also included additional videos of what authorities contend is the aforementioned suspect's vehicle driving to and from the site of the incident at the time in question.
