Watch: Mothman Webcam Captures Couple Getting Engaged

By Tim Binnall

A webcam that watches over an iconic Mothman statue in West Virginia recently captured a couple getting engaged. The romantic moment, which reportedly occurred late last month, was shared on social media by the popular Mothman Museum in the community of Point Pleasant, where the mysterious 'monster' was famously seen in the 1960s. "We spy with our Mothman eyes ... someone got engaged today," they wrote before congratulating the couple.

As one might imagine, the proposal photo sparked considerable reaction from the museum's online followers, including some who indicated that they also got engaged at the statue that has been a fixture in Point Pleasant since it was installed back in 2003. While the happy couple has yet to be identified, one imagines that they are delighted to have warmed the hearts of their fellow Mothman enthusiasts. To that end, many have expressed hope that the creature does not appear at their wedding, given its reputation as a harbinger of doom.
