Watch: Mystery Creature Spotted in Background of British Morning Show

By Tim Binnall

Viewers of a British morning show were taken aback when they spotted a mystery creature roaming around in the background of an on-location segment. The puzzling moment reportedly unfolded on the Wednesday installment of Good Morning Britain as presenter Andi Peters was presiding over an on-location segment at a lake in the community of Rickmansworth. Joking that he was "like David Attenborough," the host pointed out a swan sitting on the water and the camera zoomed in on the bird, but caught a glimpse of something rather peculiar along the shore.

Creeping along the bank of the lake was a sizeable creature that went unnoticed by Peters, but caught the attention of several people watching at home. Although the odd animal only appears on screen for a few seconds, its curious cameo quickly had social media buzzing. The predominant theory for what the creature could have been largely centered around some kind of big cat as such mysterious sizeable felines are frequently reported in England. However, other viewers argued that it was a dog and one individual actually indicated that they thought it was an escaped monkey.

The show's director, Erron Gordon, later took to Twitter to respond to the mystery and, similar to the divided opinions online, explained that he and two staff members had examined the footage and could not agree whether the animal was a dog or a cat. And, towards the end of the program, Peters mentioned the odd moment earlier in the show that had gotten social media talking and said that the on-site team looked for the mystery creature, but could find no sign of it in the area.
