A stunning video out of New Jersey shows a raccoon plummeting nine stories down from the side of a building and seemingly surviving the fall unscathed. The incredible scene unfolded at the boardwalk in Ocean City and was captured by a man named Micah Rea as he stood alongside several amazed witnesses who were watching the raccoon climb the side of an apartment building.
As he began filming, Rea joked "you won't see this on the nightly news." However, it turns out that his prediction probably wound up being wrong thanks to what happened next. Suddenly, the raccoon appears to either lose its grip or its nerve as the animal begins to fall from the building, much to the horror of those watching on the ground. Remarkably, the unexpectedly airborne creature fans out its limbs in what one assumes is a survival instinct to slow down the drop.
When the falling raccoon finally does land, it's fortunate enough to do so in some beach sand outside the building which looks to have cushioned the impact. The animal, apparently no worse for wear, then quickly gets up and scrambles away as the people who had been watching the scene explode in applause and cheers for the creature.
