Actress Salma Hayek recently revealed that staff reports of eerie paranormal activity in her London home led her to enlist a psychic medium to cleanse the residence of the bothersome spirits. The peculiar account came to light during an appearance on the Ellen DeGeneres Show earlier this week. During the conversation, Hayek was asked about her home in London being haunted and she explained that she learned of the strange situation when a bodyguard refused to work there anymore "because the piano played by itself." Other people working at the home, she said, reported lights turning on and off as well as windows and doors that would open and close on their own.
Hayek's daughter, who was in the audience, seemingly confirmed her mother's story, indicating that she has actually seen ghosts in the residence on two separate occasions. "A lot of other people in the house have seen" the paranormal activity, the actress marveled, recounting how the situation created so much unease among her staff that she eventually decided to bring a medium into the home to investigate the matter and, at the very least, quell their fears. However, the tactic wound up somewhat backfiring on the actress as the psychic began walking around the residence pointing out spirits that were in his presence, much to the horror of her employees.
"Everybody is freaking out even more," she recalled to the amusement of the audience, "it was even worse." While the medium was ultimately able to get most of the spirits to leave the home, Hayek said that one in particular that refused to depart the residence. The ghost, she noted, was that of a nun that the psychic 'saw' praying in one of the rooms. When the actress instructed him to have the woman's spirit leave, he declared "hey, she was here longer than you and she‘s not telling me to get rid of you!" Given the ghost's benevolent nature, Hayek relented and agreed to let her continue 'living' in the home.
