An odd video out of India shows a group of friends passing what appears to be a ghost lingering on the side of the road and then, moments later, the eerie figure seemingly appears again right in front of them. According to a local media report, the weird footage popped up online last week and, although the circumstances surrounding the incident are uncertain, the chilling nature of the video captured the imagination of people online and it quickly went viral in the country. In the footage, three young men can be seen riding along a desolate road that is only illuminated by the headlight from their motorbike. Suddenly, they spot someone strange up ahead, which is when the situation takes a scary turn.
As the group approach the mysterious individual, they begin blaring their horn in an attempt to get the person's attention. However, when they finally reach the stranger, the men are terrified to see that the figure is dressed in white and appears to be a female apparition known in Indian folklore as a 'chudail.' Stunned by what they have just seen, they speed up to get away from the unsettling spirit, but are stopped in their tracks a few feet down the road as the suspected ghost was now inexplicably standing in the middle of the road. Now positively terrified, one of the men remains on the bike as if frozen in fright, while one of his friends tries to drag the vehicle away from the scene.
While it would certainly seem that the young men in the video believed that they had just encountered a chudail in the wild and managed to escape unscathed, not everyone online in India is convinced that the incident was truly supernatural in nature. Many viewers argued that the unsuspecting travelers had simply been pranked by a pair of mischievous individuals who were dressed as ghosts. This would certainly seem to be the most plausible explanation for what unfolded in the video, though one can help but wonder if the assessment is strengthened by the fact that the alternative is that there are unnerving spirits waiting on the side of the road to torment unsuspecting travelers.
