Watch: Thief Flees Jewelry Store Heist on Donkey

By Tim Binnall

Authorities investigating a jewelry store heist in Turkey did something of a double-take when they pulled security footage from the crime and discovered that the sticky-fingered ne'er-do-well made his escape on a donkey. The weird caper reportedly occurred on Tuesday evening in the city of Kayseri when the suspect, identified as MC, first barreled into the shop with a forklift. Upon gaining entry, the burglar quickly pinched an array of gold pieces before making a hasty exit from the scene using a rather bizarre getaway vehicle.

Security footage from the multiple locations surrounding the store showed the crook atop a donkey dashing down various roads until vanishing for sight. Unfortunately for the audacious burglar, cops were able to quickly identify the man, and he was subsequently arrested for the robbery with the pilfered pieces recovered shortly thereafter. It is uncertain what became of his equine 'accomplice,' though one hopes that wherever the animal is now, it has turned its back on a life of crime.
