Authorities in Nigeria are assuring the public that they have nothing to fear after a video of an alleged alien invasion wound up going viral on social media in the country. The rather well-crafted hoax reportedly popped up online a few days ago and claimed to show a man encountering an enormous skeletal creature walking along the side of a road. The purported witness in the video declares that "demons" are overtaking the state of Katsina and, upon being seen by one of these monstrous interlopers, he quickly flees the scene. Shortly after appearing online, the video quickly went viral on social media in Nigeria with many residents believing that the fantastic scene was genuine.

In response to increasing concerns among people living in the area, the Katsina State Police Command were actually forced to issue a statement in an attempt to swiftly put down the panic. Indicating that they were aware of footage "making the rounds on social media depicting the invasion of Katsina by some unknown creatures (aliens)," the department "categorically" stated that "the content of the viral video is, in its entirety, fake." Decrying the video as "an attempt to disrupt the relative peace enjoyed by the good people of the state by some mischievous element," the Katsina police urged the public "not to panic and to disregard the fake video and its malicious content."
