Watch: Wax Figure Filmed Moving in Mexico?

By Tim Binnall

An eerie video from a Mexican museum shows the moment when a wax figure appears to move on its own. According to a local media report, the spooky scene was captured earlier this month at the Museo Palacio Ocampo in Guadalajara. The site, which specializes in darker topics like vampires and death, is currently hosting an exhibition celebrating famous Mexican 'witches,' including shaman María Sabina, who is credited with popularizing hallucinogenic mushroom rituals in the 1960s. Sitting in front of a display telling her story is a life-like wax figurine of the pioneering priestess that seemingly took an interest in one particular patron.

In the video (seen above), as the guest filmed the Sabrina display with their cell phone, the wax figure's head suddenly tilts as if its attention were drawn to the bewildered visitor. Sharing the footage on social media, the museum marveled "what kind of witchcraft is this?" Since being posted online, the patron's video has gone viral on Mexican social media. As one might imagine, some viewers have offered a supernatural explanation for the figure's movement. More skeptical observers have argued that the scene is due to the wax melting or a digital manipulation crafted by the museum as a clever marketing stunt for their 'witches' exhibition.
