Weird Animal Art Riddle Stumps Denver Residents

April 27, 2016

The strange spate of 'mystery art' in Denver continues as dozens of wooden animal cut outs were placed throughout an area of the city earlier this week.

Much like the unexplained baby doll faces which appeared the city last month, no one seems to know the origin of the weird wooden silhouettes of monkeys and elephants which suddenly showed up on Monday and Tuesday.

However, the creators of this particular 'piece' have provided a clue to their purpose with a Facebook page devoted to the mystery.

The page explains that there is a reason behind the cut outs beyond merely entertainment and that the people behind them have "a serious and timely message for our community."

It also challenges residents to see if they can solve the mystery of the odd animal riddle.

A website which appears linked to the campaign only furthers the confusion as it contains a list of links ranging both serious, like the Colorado Legislature website, and bizarre, such as video of karaoke singers.

The entire project seems less the work of an imaginative artist and more the brainchild of an inventive marketing team.

In a statement to Fox31 Denver, the mystery group was refused to reveal their identity but promised contests, money and prizes before the entire saga comes to a conclusion.

While one may be cynical about the campaign, it appears that the people behind it have aspirations beyond the commercial, since they say it will "will make a big difference in the lives of families and communities all over Denver."
