Would-Be 'Werewolf Slayer' Arrested in Utah

By Tim Binnall

A Utah man is in trouble with the law following a bizarre incident wherein he allegedly went after his friend with a wooden stake while claiming that his stunned companion was a werewolf. According to a local media report, the weird episode occurred last Saturday afternoon in Salt Lake City as Jose Manuel Perez and the unnamed victim were eating lunch. At some point during the presumably otherwise normal meal, he inexplicably attacked his friend, which led to the pair scuffling. When Perez subdued the victim with a chokehold, he shockingly produced a wooden stake and made a shocking declaration.

A police report on the incident indicated that Perez told the man "that he is a werewolf and was going to pierce his heart." Fortunately, his lycanthrope-slaying skills proved lacking as the victim managed to escape his clutches and flee the scene. When authorities later caught up to Perez, he was in possession of the man's backpack and, for reasons unexplained, several rocks. Cops subsequently charged Perez with aggravated robbery which, while serious, likely pales in comparison to what he might have faced had his 'werewolf hunt' been a success.
