This week, we journey back to two shows from January 1999 that look at fascinating aspects of plants and agriculture. On the 1/6/99 program, Art's guest was Michael Theroux of the Borderland Sciences Research Foundation who delves into whether plants have consciousness or not, along with other cutting edge science topics.
Next, we highlight a show from 1/26/99 in which biotech expert and environmentalist Patrick Roy Mooney talked about the issues, implications, and ethics involved in the creation of altered and genetically engineered crop seeds-- also known as 'Terminator' seeds. These controversial seeds are owned by corporations like Monsanto and cause second-generation seeds to be infertile.
These vintage programs have commercials and breaks removed and are presented in multiple-platforms-- available on-demand for Mac, Windows, IOS, and Android. Many of them feature rare "5th" hours of content from back in the 90s when the show had a longer running time. We do include Art's beloved bumper music, which became such an indelible part of his program.
