In Coast You Missed It 3/8/24

Artificial intelligence, alien abductions, and the consciousness of comatose people were among the fascinating topics explored this past week on Coast to Coast AM. And, here at the C2C website, we told you about the search for a UFO spotted in Norway decades ago, an alleged burglar busted thanks to his chihuahua 'accomplice,' and a set of possible Sasquatch tracks found in England. Check out our round-up of highlights from the past week ... In Coast You Missed It.

Alien abductions took center stage on Sunday night's program as channeling medium Christopher Macklin shared insights from having worked with over 1,000 clients whom he believes have been victims of the troubling phenomenon. Lamenting that such incidents appear to be on the rise, he asserted that they are largely the work of the extraterrestrials known as the Greys and that various world governments have struck deals wherein people are allowed to be taken by the ETs in exchange for advanced technology. While a benevolent group of aliens dubbed Arcturians have attempted to put a stop to this sinister scheme, Macklin revealed, the Greys continue their nefarious work by way of portals that manifest in the homes of abductees.

A decades-old UFO case from Norway wound up back in the news by way of a search for the apocryphal object. The 1947 incident saw the mayor of the village of Roros witness what appeared to be some kind of craft fall from the sky into the nearby Lake Djupsjoen. Although attempts to find the object proved to be futile, the mysterious event became a part of Norwegian UFO lore. This past week, it was revealed that a team of researchers recently used sonar to scour the lake and, in the process, detected an anomalous form that just might be the oddity spotted by the mayor of Roros so long ago.

What occurs in the mind of an individual while they are in a coma? Author Alan Pearce explored this fascinating question on Wednesday night's program, detailing his research into the conscious states experienced by people who have been in such a state. While medical science suggests that a patient has no recollection of the event, Pearce posited that this is not the case and, in fact, individuals can have an array of traumatic memories from being comatose. During his appearance, he also recounted wondrous cases wherein people experience living years or even decades as a different person while they are in a coma, only to wake up and discover that just a few weeks have passed.

This past week saw a pair of odd arrests involving animals, beginning with a weird burglary bust in Canada. Winnipeg authorities investigating the pair of break-ins were provided an unusual clue as the suspect inexplicably brought his chihuahua along on the heists. Instructed to keep an eye out for the man and his proverbial best friend, cops quickly nabbed the alleged burglar when he was spotted walking the diminutive dog down the street. Later in the week, customs officers at an airport in Bangkok thwarted a sinister smuggling operation in which six Indian nationals attempted to sneak a staggering 87 animals, including an endangered red panda, out of the country.

In keeping with its grip on the zeitgeist, artificial intelligence was a hot topic of conversation this past week on Coast to Coast AM. First, on Monday night's program, author Mark Greaney talked about the weaponization and ethics of AI. Marveling at the incredible speed with which the technology continues to evolve, he noted that profit-seeking private companies are driving its development and warned that some nations may eventually allow military decisions to be automated, which could prove to be disastrous. Then, on Tuesday night's show, philosopher Jonathan Zap mused that AI could bring about the downfall of our species as machines surpass us and eventually try to control the human race.

A trio of peculiar pictures possibly providing evidence for high strangeness popped up in the news this past week. First, in England, a group of hikers photographed a sizeable footprint from a trail of sizeable tracks that some believe may have been left behind by Bigfoot. Meanwhile, also in Britain, a motorist managed to capture an intriguing image of what appears to be a dead big cat on the side of a road. Strangely, when she returned to the spot an hour later to get a better look at the mysterious creature, it had inexplicably vanished. Finally, a man driving home from work in New York State snapped a puzzling picture of two glowing orbs that briefly appeared in the sky.
