Seismologists studying the Earth beneath Bermuda were surprised to find a massive layer of rock unlike anything ever seen before. The peculiar anomaly, which reportedly boasts a thickness of nearly twelve and a half miles, was discovered by researchers examining the unusual behavior of seismic waves under the archipelago. Dubbed a 'structure,' though seemingly natural, the monstrous rock layer has been likened to a life raft that raised the crust beneath Bermuda and has kept it afloat for millions of years.
As one might imagine, some have suggested that the curious layer of rock could be somehow connected to the infamous Bermuda Triangle mystery. However, it should be noted that the archipelago and the anomaly beneath it constitute only the northernmost point of the notorious patch of ocean where planes and boats have disappeared with unsettling frequency for decades. As such, the newfound 'structure' is likely unrelated to the eerie phenomenon that skeptics still insist is more of an urban legend than a genuine concern.
