Video: First Trailer for New Steven Spielberg UFO Film 'Disclosure Day' Released

By Tim Binnall

The first trailer for famed director Steven Spielberg's forthcoming film about UFOs, titled Disclosure Day, has been released. Set to hit the big screen on June 12th, 2026, the highly anticipated summer blockbuster reportedly stars Emily Blunt, Josh O'Connor, and Colin Firth, among other Hollywood heavyweights. Shot earlier this year under a veil of secrecy, the plot of the film has yet to be revealed, with the title, Disclosure Day, only becoming known this week with the release of the first trailer. The movie marks Spielberg's return to the topic of UFOs and aliens following 1977's iconic Close Encounters of the Third Kind, 1982's beloved E.T., and 2005's less celebrated War of the Worlds, starring Tom Cruise.

While the newly released two-minute-long trailer provides few specifics regarding the story told in the film, one imagines that it centers around an argument made by O'Connor's character wherein he declares that "people have the right to know the truth. It belongs to 7 billion people." Given the considerable cultural impact of both Close Encounters and E.T., UFO enthusiasts are understandably optimistic that the new Spielberg movie could have a similar effect on public discourse regarding the phenomenon and possibly advance the cause of disclosure. Time will tell whether or not that turns out to be the case, but it is almost certain that the release of the film next June will facilitate such conversations in the media.
