'Possessed' Indian Airline Passenger Attempts to Open Emergency Exit in Mid-Air

By Tim Binnall

An Indian airline passenger who attempted to open the emergency exit on the plane in mid-air offered a rather bizarre explanation for his unsettling behavior: ghostly possession. According to a local media report, the frightening incident occurred on Saturday evening as the commercial flight from Bengaluru was preparing to land at the Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport in Varanasi. With the plane descending to an altitude of around 500 feet, people aboard the airliner were understandably rattled when passenger Mohammad Adnan suddenly popped out of his seat and began pushing a button to activate the emergency exit.

Fortunately, the flight crew commendably managed to quickly restrain the unruly traveler before the door could be opened. Chillingly, after Adnan was handed over to security after the plane landed, it was revealed that he had actually tried a similar stunt shortly after the flight had taken off. At the time, the troublesome traveler attributed his actions to a simple mistake. However, when later questioned by authorities as to why he twice tried to open the emergency exit, the seemingly troubled Adnan blamed "the influence of a ghost." As one might imagine, a police investigation into the incident is ongoing, with the young man possibly facing serious charges for his actions.
