Video: Boy's Bigfoot Bellow Wins Sasquatch Calling Contest in Maine

By Tim Binnall

A Maine boy's mighty Bigfoot bellow earned him the top spot at a colorful Sasquatch calling contest held over the weekend. According to a local media report, seven-year-old Gannon took home the title, which included a $100 prize, on Saturday at the peculiar competition organized by Tocci’s Checkout Convenience Store in the small town of Glenburn. Beyond being a bit of weekend fun for the community, contest judge Kevin Warner of the Maine Bigfoot Foundation expressed hope that the event would lessen the stigma surrounding Sasquatch. "People have had encounters or they've seen footprints and a lot of people don't talk about it," he explained, "because they just think, 'They're going to think I'm crazy.'"

Saturday's event at Tocci's was the latest in a series of similar events that follow in the footsteps of Whitehall, New York's wildly popular Sasquatch Festival & Calling Contest, which began in 2016 and was actually featured on ESPN back in 2019. In recent years, regional versions of the curious competition have been held at Bigfoot gatherings in Ohio, Kentucky, North Carolina, and now Maine. While it is too early to call the trend the beginning of America's next great sport, perhaps in the future we will see Sasquatch calling champions from each state come together to crown the country's ultimate Bigfoot bellower.
