Watch: Mysterious Trio of Fireballs Filmed in Mexico

By Tim Binnall

An unnerving video from Mexico shows a trio of mysterious fireballs floating over a hillside as eerie wailing sounds can be heard in the distance, leaving some to suspect that the illuminations were supernatural in nature. According to a local media report, the strange footage was posted on social media earlier this month by a user who claimed that the chilling scene was filmed in the State of Mexico. In the video (featured below), a trio of fiery balls of light can be seen descending in the sky above a hill. Seemingly accompanying the curious illuminations are a series of haunting wails that echo through the night.

Interestingly, while one might initially suspect that the balls of light were merely lanterns, that theory falls apart when two of the orbs suddenly change direction and accelerate upwards at a remarkable speed. Since being posted online last week, the original footage has garnered a staggering 12 million views on social media and, of course, spawned an array of theories about what unfolded on the hillside. One theory put forward by viewers is that the lights were supernatural, specifically connected to witches. Skeptics, on the other hand, argue that the glowing orbs were a natural phenomenon known as fatuous fires or, more colloquially, will-o'-the-wisps. What do you make of the weird footage?
