Residents of a town in Mexico are on edge following strange reports of a werewolf-like creature. The bizarre panic, reportedly unfolding in the community of Coita, first came to light via social media last week. According to accounts emanating from the area, residents have been disturbed at night by the unsettling sounds of what seems to be a creature howling as well as gunshots. As is often the case, a handful of individuals claim to have actually seen the alleged creature that has been tormenting the town.
The beast, they say, stands an imposing six-and-a-half feet tall and is capable of leaping nine feet into the air. Other characteristics attributed to the oddity are that it emits an unpleasant odor and is somehow impervious to bullets. Collectively, these accounts have led to rumors circulating among residents that the creature is a werewolf and the entire affair has become something of a viral sensation in Mexico with numerous media outlets covering the curious case.
To that end, one can't help but notice the many eerie similarities between the Coita werewolf and the 'Springman' character which has been haunting a village in India for the last few weeks as both are described as supernatural entities capable of fantastic abilities and keeping residents up at night in fear, while also drawing considerable attention online. One explanation for the case unfolding in Mexico which may also apply to the situation in India was put forward by a psychologist who pointed to concerns surrounding the coronavirus manifesting as a kind of mass hysteria surrounding an invisible danger to the community.
