Frightening Bigfoot encounters, Shadow People, and Project Blue Book were among the fascinating realms explored this past week on Coast to Coast AM. In the pantheon of paranormal entities, few are as unsettling as the mysterious beings known as Shadow People. Researcher Mike Ricksecker detailed his extensive investigation into these seemingly otherworldly visitors on Monday night's program. He recalled his numerous personal encounters with Shadow People, which began when he was a child and have continued all the way up until this past summer. As for what these entities might be, Ricksecker speculated that they are some kind of interdenominational being that can cross over into our realm of existence.
One of this past week's weirder stories occurred in France where a publisher was forced to issue a hasty apology after a teacher found that a history textbook recently released by the company contained a curious conspiracy theory concerning 9/11. In the chapter covering the tragic event, the author declares that the terror attack was "no doubt orchestrated by the CIA." As one can imagine, this did not sit too well with educators in the country and the publisher quickly announced that the statement had somehow been accidentally included in the book and would be excised from future printings.
Considering how Bigfoot is portrayed in pop culture, it's easy to think that the creature is docile if not friendly. However, on Sunday night's program, Shannon Legro and G. Michael Hopf presented a different side of the legendary cryptid through chilling tales of encounters with Sasquatch-like entities that were positively terrifying. Among the stories recounted by the duo were that of a man who stumbled upon a ten-foot-tall bipedal entity that held the remains of an unfortunate dog in its hand as well as a Bigfoot hunter who, while camping in a forest at night, was tormented by horrifying screams coming from the woods all around him.
An unpleasant bit of history was made this past week when the 2020 update for the iconic Doomsday Clock was announced. In a worrisome turn of events, the scientists behind the symbolic measurement of how close we are to annihilation indicated that humanity is now a mere 100 seconds from midnight. The unnerving assessment is the closest the clock has been to doomsday since its inception in 1947 and marked what one scientist warned is "an absolutely unacceptable state of world affairs that has eliminated any margin for error or further delay."
The Air Force's investigation of UFOs in the 1950s and 60s, known as Project Blue Book, is considered by many to be something of a golden era in the history of the phenomenon. On Thursday night's program, Paul Hynek provided a fascinating look at the project to which his father, Dr. J. Allen Hynek, served as a scientific advisor. He recounted how his dad was a skeptic of UFOs when he started working on Blue Book, but ultimately became convinced that there was something truly inexplicable about phenomenon. Hynek also reflected on the legacy his father left behind and the History Channel TV series based on his investigations.
By far the most baffling story of the week came by way of Ohio where a father and daughter were stopped in their tracks while taking out the trash when the spotted an eerie series of flashes that lit up the night sky. The spooky and strangely silent bursts of light left them scratching their heads, which was also the case with numerous other witnesses in the area who frantically phoned the police to report the odd incident. As of now, the case remains unsolved with local authorities unable to offer any answers and all prosaic explanations unable to account for the unnerving event.
