Vampire lore, the Lizzie Borden case, and an ancient civilization on Mars were among the riveting realms explored this past week on Coast to Coast AM. And, here at the C2C website, we told you about a video that may show a ghost removing a dog's collar, a man who had a cell phone in his stomach for six months, and a breathtaking supernova remnant that resembles Pac-Man munching on stars in space. Check out our round-up of highlights from the past week ... In Coast You Missed It.

Could one of America's earliest true crime accounts, the Lizzie Borden axe murder case, be the result of a generational curse? Author and clairvoyant Sam Baltrusis explored this fascinating question on Saturday night's program, revealing that the Borden family history includes multiple incidents involving gruesome murders which seems to suggest some kind of dark recurring theme embedded in their lineage. Claiming to have established psychic contact with Lizzie, he indicated that she refuses to accept responsibility for the infamous murders, yet is also largely evasive when asked about them. As for who may have committed the crimes, Baltrusis posited that it could have been a conspiracy, of sorts, orchestrated by Lizzie and her uncle.

The wonders of space were on full display this past week by way of two remarkable observations made by astronomers. First, NASA shared a breathtaking image of a supernova remnant wherein the massive explosion site, which is located approximately 160,000 light-years from Earth, bore an uncanny resemblance to the iconic video game character Pac-Man. Then, researchers announced the discovery of a white dwarf that mysteriously "switches on and off." The late-stage star, located around 1,400 light-years away, is thought to have been feeding on a nearby star and lost its brightness when something interfered with its proverbial food supply.

A fitting topic for this time of year, the history of vampire lore took center stage on Sunday night's program as author J. Gordon Melton detailed the origins and evolution of the blood-thirsty beings which have become a fixture of literature and pop culture. He explained that archetypes for these entities can be traced as far back as 6,000 years with tales of creatures in Northern Africa that subsisted on the blood of newborns. In the ensuing centuries, Melton said, vampires appear in various cultures around the world as explanations for a variety of then-mysterious ailments and conditions. During his appearance, he also shared stories of historical 'vampires' like Vlad the Impaler and German serial killer Fritz Haarmann.

This past week saw a particularly eerie piece of footage pop up online in the form of a home security video wherein an invisible force, suspected by some to be a ghost, removes the collar from a dog's neck. Posted to TikTok, the chilling scene begins with a pair of crated dogs furiously barking before falling strangely silent. Shortly thereafter, the collar on one of the pooch's neck begins to move and the unfortunate animal is violently and inexplicably pulled towards the corner of its crate. The collar then falls to the ground to the mystification of both the dog and the 13 million viewers who have watched the viral video since it was shared online a few days ago.

With our exploration of Mars advancing considerably in recent years, it's understandable to wonder what we might find when humans finally arrive on the Red Planet. On Thursday's program, researcher Jason Martell argued that, should they explore the Cydonia region of Mars, astronauts will likely discover evidence for a lost ancient civilization that has some kind of connection to Earth. To that end, he pointed to the eerie similarities between the 'Face on Mars' and pyramid-like structures seen on the Red Planet with the iconic landmarks located in Egypt. Since NASA is no longer the only space-faring organization with the ability to travel to Mars, Martell expressed optimism that such profound revelations about the Red Planet could not be easily concealed from the public.

By far the most bizarre story of the week came by way of Egypt, where doctors removed a cell phone from the stomach of a man who had swallowed it six months earlier! The very strange case came to light after the unnamed patient sought help from a hospital for what he described as incredible abdominal pain. When the man was x-rayed, doctors were stunned to see a cell phone in his stomach. It was then that he sheepishly explained that he had eaten the ill-advised 'snack' six months ago and, too embarrassed to tell anyone, had simply hoped that it would naturally be passed through his digestive system. Alas, that was not the case and, after a two-hour surgery, the man was finally freed from the jaw-dropping predicament.
