War and China/ Power of the Subconscious

About the show

In the first half, George spoke to David Poyer, a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis and a Naval officer whose career has included military service all over the world. He is the author of several speculative novels on military events. He discussed how a war with China might begin and how prepared that country and the United States would be for such a conflict.

Although war plans with any country are national secrets, Poyer used his knowledge of current events to outline various scenarios for an escalating conflict. He thinks that it could begin with a dispute over the Senkaku Islands, which are owned by Japan, but have strategic value to China, since they are near to Taiwan. He also discussed the warning signs a country might be in preparation for war, such as building up of stockpiles and acts of cyber-sabotage to damage an enemy's infrastructure. As for the possibility of a nuclear exchange, Poyer said "in every war game I’ve been in, it has been very difficult" to initiate but there is a possibility that it could occur by accident, if a natural disaster (such as a meteor) was mistaken for an attack, or if a commander went rogue. He concludes that "war is not war like it used to be."

In the second half, certified hypnotist Tim Bartley spoke about his method of "Theta State Therapy," which he says can treat many mental and even physical illnesses. He has been in full-time practice over ten years, and over the course of thousands of hypnosis sessions, he made the startling discovery that his clients were being either guided or held back by what he says are their "spirit guides."

"Hypnosis is pushing the thinking, conscious mind to the side and speaking to the subconscious" Bartley says, although the conscious is still in control. In his method, the conscious mind is bypassed completely, which allows direct communication with the spirit guide, who may be causing problems for his clients. Treating patients in this way is effective with such problems as self-esteem, PTSD, depression, alcoholism, weight loss, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue and even some forms of cancer, he says. Bartley indicates that about 20% of the time, that part that is causing a problem is a spiritual attachment, which could be "a deceased person or something like a demon—a negative energy." After a few sessions, his clients can often adapt the methods for their own use without a therapist present.
