Roswell Incident on Trial / Spirit Communications

About the show

Guest host Richard Syrett was joined by attorney Christopher Johnston, who discussed his book "Roswell: The Truth on Trial," which reimagines the 1947 Roswell incident as a courtroom drama. Johnston revealed he has been fascinated by UFOs since childhood, thanks to his science-fiction-loving father. After years focused on career and family, he eventually returned to the topic and decided to merge his legal expertise with his lingering interest in the Roswell incident. He believed the courtroom format, where competing narratives are examined through structured testimony, objections, and evidence, was an ideal way to re-explore the 1947 case and let readers think like jurors.

Johnston described how he built the book as a civil trial, selecting witnesses from real historical accounts and using their documented interviews as courtroom testimony. He explained that he largely adhered to trial rules, even incorporating objections and jury selection, to teach readers how evidence is evaluated. To present both sides fairly, he divided the case into believers and skeptics, choosing witnesses he considered credible or central rather than extreme voices. He said the believers' strongest witness would be rancher Mac Brazel, whose early discovery of the debris and lack of personal agenda made him compelling. Conversely, he argued that General Ramey would be the skeptics' most effective witness because of his authority and straightforward dismissal of the flying-disc claim.

Johnston examined how eyewitness accounts, shifting government explanations, and controversial testimony from figures like Jesse Marcel, Glenn Dennis, Walter Haut, and others could be challenged or defended in court. He also noted how experts and skeptics, such as scientists or debunkers, would be used to establish credibility or raise doubt. He emphasized that Roswell remains a clash of narratives, and his goal was not to declare a definitive answer but to give readers a realistic legal framework to evaluate the evidence themselves and render their own verdict.

In the second half of the program, psychic medium Deb Sheppard talked about her journey into mediumship, her experiences connecting with spirits, and the concept of soul contracts. She explained that her mediumship ability began during a difficult period in her life, when she was studying energy and feng shui to cope with personal stress. Without expecting it, she began sensing spirits, first recognizing the father of a friend she had never met. This experience led her to accept her abilities and develop what she called a language with the spirit world. She described using all her senses to interpret messages, emphasizing that each spirit communicates differently and that her strongest connection is through feeling emotion and energy in her body.

Sheppard discussed how she learned to manage emotional overload, set boundaries, and respect when to be open or closed to spiritual communication. She revealed what she has learned through thousands of readings, including the patterns of messages spirits share. According to Sheppard, spirits most often want loved ones to know they are at peace and still connected. She said children in spirit frequently reassure their parents, and she described the emotional weight of readings involving children as the most difficult.

Sheppard shared her beliefs about the afterlife, soul contracts, and reincarnation. She suggested souls continue learning, are not stuck, and remain aware of their loved ones. She described soul contracts as agreements made before birth with a soul group to support one another's growth through life lessons. She explained that relationships repeat across lifetimes in different roles to help individuals evolve. She acknowledged that tragedy and suffering are hard to understand and combined the concepts of free will and soul planning to make sense of them. Sheppard emphasized that the purpose of life is learning, expansion, and healing.
