Mysterious Outbreak

About the show

Art began the program with a fax from a listener who relayed a news story of a mysterious outbreak in Jasper, Arkansas, about an elementary school in which children, teachers, and health workers suffered symptoms that "resembled radiation poisoning." Joyce Murphy, the founder and president of "Beyond Boundaries," appeared on the show, reporting that she had spoken to a physician in the area, who told her that the CDC was present and his phone was being monitored to keep any news from the area getting out.

While Murphy typically investigates UFO sightings, she became fascinated by this outbreak story. She reported there were currently 57 people affected, even employees at a laundry company contracted by the hospital. The strange malady was said to cause breathing problems, loss of mobility, and skin rashes. Strangely, there was also a spate of UFO sightings in the area. Murphy revealed that the school reopened a few days later, but parents didn't want to send their kids back.

A caller from the area said that at first, five of the kids ran into the school from the playground, saying that their headaches were so severe that "it felt like their brains were coming out." The malady spread very quickly, and 45 children were transported to a local emergency room, where some personnel also fell ill. Soon after, officials said the area was safe even though an "unknown compound" was found in urine and blood samples. Murphy also mentioned that there were rumors of "low-flying planes" and trucks driving by. She noted that locals felt there was some sort of cover-up by the authorities. Murphy then described some of her expeditions to UFO hotspots and videos she and others had captured. In the second hour, Murphy took calls from listeners. The last half of the program featured news and Open Lines.
