Matthew Alford is a writer and producer, whose work explores the relationship between power, entertainment, and war. His first documentary, The Writer with No Hands (2014) premiered at Hot Docs and won several festival awards. His stage adaptation of the eponymous novel was previewed in 2020 at independent venues and live-streamed for the Edinburgh Fringe. Alford's second documentary, Theatres of Command (2021) is based on his book National Security Cinema: The Shocking New Evidence of Government Control in Hollywood (2017) and is being distributed by the Media Education Foundation. His books have been re-published in Chinese and French.
