Ric Ralston

Ric Ralston

Biography:

Ric Ralston is the inventor of Mic-Lock and a longtime technology innovator focused on digital privacy. Early in his career, his belief that better communication could solve global problems led him into designing internet infrastructure systems, where he gained firsthand insight into the growing complexities of privacy in the digital age. His work during the dot-com era and post-9/11 technology landscape revealed how vulnerable communication systems could be to unexpected access and manipulation.

Motivated by the need for practical privacy protections, Ralston developed his first product, a webcam cover, while working in China. Its success inspired him to tackle audio privacy, leading to the creation of Mic-Lock, a plug-and-play hardware solution that blocks microphone access without software. Backed by a U.S. utility patent and extensive cross-device testing, Mic-Lock has gone on to ship more than one million units, offering a simple, effective privacy solution in an increasingly connected world.
